Lower Zone Mixing Window took a step back

The new Cubase v14.0.20 maintenance update that just released allows the faders to be hidden in the lower zone and main mixconsole windows via the windows layout settings options.

Not exactly sure if it’s a complete solution to this lower zone mixconsole issue, but it’s an improvement I guess.

In my opinion, the update is not an improvement, it was much more clearer in version 13 and saved much more screen space. Your idea @wavefunction with switches on the side would be a very good improvement.

I remember that quite a few users complained about the side switches being a waste of real estate… just saying.
Personally, I am fine with either way. The option to hide/show the fader section is definetly an improvement compared to 14.0.10.

Hi @Johnny_Moneto,

thanks!

And I think this works well: I’ve assigned my unused “<” key (Windows) to switch the faders on/off, and can do so also without thinking about it much - IMHO this is a considerably better solution than those Cubase 13 view mode buttons, which at least required some mouse clicks and one had to look at them (I did in fact like their functionality, yet I like the assignable key a bit more).

Best,
Markus

Keep in mind not to assign the button for Show/Hide Faders to the Power button of your computer. That way you would never find out if the cheeky bugger keeps on cheating.

We will be running out of keys soon

I agree. Steinberg needs to re-implement the ability to minimize / maximize the lower zone mixconsole top toolbar.

They just keep adding more clicks in what’s already a clickclastrophe.

I would like to be able to unselect ALL the elements I don’t want, except the faders. Currently when I try to unselect the last one, it re-enables Routing, Inserts, and Sends??
