I am trying to enter lyrics in a slash region using the Lyric popover. I enter the lyrics, however, when I hit return, they do not display. Anyone run into this? Thanks.

I’m afraid you can’t add lyrics in a slash region unless you first add some actual notes for the lyrics to attach to: you can then “cover the notes up” with the slash region afterwards, and the lyrics will still show through, though the notes the lyrics are attached to will be hidden.
