When a lyric extension line crosses over to a new page, it is sometimes vertically too high or low. Unfortunately, there seems to be now way to move the extension vertically without:
A) affecting other random lyric line heights
B) it just refuses to move at all
Tried assigning to various lyric line numbers and messing with offsets. Tried move the lyric vertically from the previous page.
Doric 5.1.81
You should be able to move it as part of the lyric line on that system.
Select the first syllable on the system, and move the anchor square.
If the extension line lasts for the whole system, then there’s no easy way of editing the vertical position of the line.
However, I have found that you can add a syllable, adjust the height, then delete the syllable and extend the line (by pressing Space in the popover), and the edited height will be maintained.

Thanks. How do you add a syllable, delete it, and still keep the line extension? Mine goes away when I delete the syllable.
Step 1: a Lyric line that lasts for the whole system.
Step 2:
Add a syllable in the middle.
Step 3 move it down
Step 4: Select it in Write mode and Press Enter. Delete the word, and then press Space as many times as required.
The line remains at the edited height.
(I’ve moved the line down, to make it more obvious, but I see you want to move the line up! – Are you sure that can’t be solved by changing the lyric height from the staff in Engraving Options?)

Ahh, Ok, thanks for the detailed example. In this case, it is not the whole line…there are other lyrics and other lines as well. Originally, it weirdly moved with the wrong lyric line. When I made it its own lyric line, it refused to move at all.
I did find a work-around that I am not too fond of, but it looks correct: I created the line extensions with the line tool, setting their scale to ‘cue grace.’
Can you show a screenshot, or a sample document of what you’re trying to achieve and what you have?
In general, if it’s part of the same lyric line, then it should be at the same height.
Line is part of line 1 from previous page. No other lyrics use that line number.
Ok, I think I just got your solution to work this time. Added the extra lyric under the rest. Seems like they should add an easy way to adjust this height in properties or just let me drag it…
I suspect that the previous syllable is actually on a different verse number?
It is now, but wasn’t originally. Either, way, thanks so much for the solution, because this is much better than having to worry about where the fake line ext I created was going to end-up when Dorico auto-updated the score format.
I would keep things on the same verse number, unless you actually want them to be on different lines. That’s probably far easier.
Copy. I only changed it the first time b/c I couldn’t get it to move anywhere.
