Lyric Hyphenator

Will there be an option to check if words in lyrics are correctly hyphenated?

Not in the near future, no. (And possibly not ever.)

Aww… :frowning:

To be fair there isn’t an accurate one in any of the competing software…

This seems to me like something I (the user) should be responsible for, especially as lyrics can be in so many languages and rules for hyphenation differ among them.

There are also free hyphenators online. You can copy & paste your text and it will do all the hard work for you. You don’t even have to look it up in a reference guide.

That’s a great idea, I didn’t think of that. Thanks. I found a good one here:

And I believe there is even a difference in hypenation between when a text is being spoken and sung, so, yes, it doesn’t make much sense to include it in a notation program.
Subject closed

That’s the one I use too. I didn’t have the link handy on my laptop but I’ve used it extensively and have always been happy with the results. Glad you found it!

Exactly! Dorico must leave at least SOMETHING for the user to do him/herself. Next thing someone is probably asking is if Dorico could also book flight tickets to Disneyland with free luxury accommodation for two weeks.

That’s not really music notation related… although it would be a cool feature :sunglasses:
