Hi all,
please have a look at the syllable “Män”. Which alignment is correct?
The version on the left where “Män” is centered under the note.
Thanks for confirming, exactly my feeling.
To the right is Dorico’s default, the one to the left has been fixed manually.
Interesting; Because of the grace note, Dorico considers there’s an extender line here.
With the defaults:
(Had to retype the lyrics, not only to delete the grace note)
Yes, I noticed that too. That’s why I thought it wasn’t the default. I didn’t add the grace note first.

It works with the defaults by entering a non-breaking space[1] on the grace note (instead of right arrow or hyphen, or nothing).
(Saying that because I think the default about extender lines is a good one).

Thank you, that’s interesting – I get this to work if I type
Män-nonbreakingspace-skor
So I still have to type the hyphens. Anyway, a good workaround!
Actually Män - non-breaking space Space skor
(an hyphen after the grace note would give a second hyphen colliding with the s)
Maybe that depends on the settings – no second hyphen here – but point taken.
There is something wrong here.
The first version here is created without the grace note and once everything is written down, I’ve added the grace note. The result is perfect and as expected.
The second one is adding the text once all the notes, including the grace note, are written down. And the alignment of Män is wrong.
If I try and play with the property of that syllable in the first version, checking it in and out, it ends up like the second version.
Here’s the file to play with.

AHA! Maybe I just didn’t see it!
Dorico treats grace notes (for lyrics) as normal notes, e.g. it considers it a melisma of two notes.
If you use the right arrow, instead of pressing hyphen or space, you can enter the first syllable without Dorico contextualizing it.
I first tried that, but with this very example and Dorico’s defaults, I get the Män- left aligned… That’s why I suggested the non-breaking space.
If I leave out the hyphen completely, yes, but the word needs it. Or do you mean that you can do this typing “män- {right arrow} skor” and still have the “män” centered?
Ah: you’re right. Using the arrow doesn’t give you a hyphen. Apologies.
