I selected the top staff, filtered for lyrics then copied to staff below (using Edit->Paste Special->Duplicate to staff below). The lyrics then start to push to the right and are no longer assigned to the same position. I’ve double checked that the top staff is assigned to the notes they appear to be. Is this a bug?

Duplicate to staff below doesn’t work well with tuplets (for lyrics). You can try Alt/Opt+Click instead, or copy/paste.
Duplicate to staff below works if you select also the tuplets, which is not very convenient!
I suspected the tuplets too but I didn’t think that duplicating just the lyrics would be affected.

This is indeed a known problem, I’m afraid: it doesn’t work correctly with lyrics at tuplet positions. It’s on our list of things to improve in future.

Woops. I uploaded the corrected file. If you delete the alto lyrics then duplicate the soprano down you’ll see the issue. (I’m changing the piece from S/A & T/B to SATB for Cantai playback purposes).
This is obviously another tuplet‑related issue, but here the problem is copying between passages that use tuplets in the soprano but not in the alto.
To test it, I turned the alto into tuplets in the three places where this happens (bars 23, 31 and 35), and then Alt+Click or copy/paste works fine. (But Duplicate to Staff Below still won’t work.)
You can test here — note that you can delete the 3 incorrect tuplets in the alto staff afterwards, the lyrics won’t move any more.

So basically, if I understand well, either the tuplets aren’t copied (with Duplicate to staff), and it causes causes problems when there are also tuplets in the target staff — or they are “copied” (with the other methods), but it causes problems when there aren’t any!

I’m dealing frequently with lyrics and I’m using always the reliable ALT/OPT click way.
However in Dorico 6 you can move syllables easily with ALT/OPT ← / → to the next note when something went wrong.
I actually never noticed there could be issues also with this process, but this case shows that it’s still not perfect when you have tuplets in the source and not in the target…
Indeed, I re-paste the lyrics anyway if the rhythm is clearly different.
A separate issue. I’ve edited the file so there are separate SATB parts. The TB don’t start singing at the beginning with the SA voices. I can’t get Cantai to playback anything but the soprano (cantai) and piano (halion). I’ve tried a dozen different of the usual troubleshooting ideas and no change. Even deleting the Soprano staff doesn’t result in the other voices singing.
