I found a typo in a word that is repeated a few times in the lyrics of a score that I am working on. Is there a way to quickly find and replace every instance of it?
No, but this would be a great feature.
Select any syllable. Right click, and under Lyrics, click on “Edit Line of Lyrics”. You can copy and paste the entire text into a text editor; make the changes, and copy/paste the whole thing back.
Yeah, but still…
Yes, I’d love a comprehensive grep search and replace utility, built-in, of course!
But I do this a lot --in fact I’ve assigned the old Finale keys of Command L to Edit Line of Lyrics. And I always have BBEdit open.
Thank you!
I ended up finding out that, in this case, it would be quicker to find the mistake and replacing it in the score, then extracting the text, correcting it and than placing it back again. Your tip @benwiggy was still usefull for extracting the lyrics to a word processor, after corrections, and double checking for any uncorrected mistakes.
But yes, a built-in solution would be great, of course.
I knew I was missing something!! A feature request for Dorico to run as a mode in EMACS.
I’m sure you meant Vim, didn’t you?
VIM yeah. I was flashing back to the joke “EMACS is a great O/S - needs a good editor though. “
Another request for lyric search and replace.
I would find the search part of that useful too, even by itself.
