I’m transitioning a passion from Finale → XML → Dorico, and I’d like to figure out a way to manually not have staff lines while keeping rhythm and having text in the middle of where the staff used to be. See attachment. So far I’ve not seen that other than adding a 0-line staff option, but it seems problematic for updates. I know I can cutaway and move a text above, but I’d also need the quarter rest in this example each time, and I’d prefer the rests to also not have staff lines behind them.
Is there no way to do this natively in Dorico? Like, somehow right-clicking, selecting staff, and take away the staff lines for a particular amount of time while keeping the vertical measure lines?
Thanks for your help. I’m working on it, but I’m not sure how to create instrument changes. I’ve eliminated everything from the normal SA staff and added one quarter rest to the beginning of the first bar with a text box that’s moved manually into the staff, but it still shows up as the normal SA staff that’s empty. How do I make it so that it shows the instrument change bar? Thank you!

set this Engraving Options for the instrument change barline (when it changes to 0-line instrument):
set the Treble clef in the Instrument Definition for the 0-line instrument, to avoid the clef change and the gap (for the bass staves players, you can duplicate the 0-line instrument and set the bass clef for the duplicate and assign this duplicate as 0-line instrument for them):
