MacOS Sequoia 15.6 does not show thumbnails on saved files

Hello,

I need help about MacOS Sequoia 15.6 that does not show thumbnails on saved files with Dorico 4.

I’ve restarted Mac, restarted finder but I don’t know why the problem does not solve.

Any idea?

Thanks and happy new year!

Dorico doesn’t save a thumbnail image if you save the document in Galley View (because the page has not been generated).

Also, make sure that the option to save thumbnails is checked in Project Info.

I’m running Sequoia, and I have thumbnails, so there must be something else causing it.

Also: make sure that Dorico’s QuickLook extensions are enabled in System Settings > General > Login Items & Extensions.

Which exact version are you running? According to this Quicklook was introduced in 4.0.20

Wasn’t it Sequoia that introduced a new QuickLook framework that was supported by Dorico from a 5.x point-release sometime in Autumn 2024, after the previous QuickLook framework was deprecated by Apple?

That would therefore mean that the Dorico 4 QuickLook functionality no longer works on Sequoia, whilst up-to-date Dorico 5 and 6 installations will work (as they have the new framework).

You’re correct.

Thank you all,

I seem to have understood that for the “old” Dorico 4 the compatibility with the quick view in Sequoia has not been updated and it is easy for me to guess that there will be no news if we do not update to Dorico 6. In fact, Dorico 4 is not present in the quick view system extensions.

Anyway thank you all for answering me

Ah. Sorry, I missed the version info (and had forgotten about the issue!)

I’d strongly recommend updating, if you plan to stay using Dorico, as there are a huge number of improvements in features, fixes, and content such as sample libraries .. and fonts.
