I’m afraid what you are wishing for is very very very unlikely to ever happen for reasons that have already been laid out here.
Just imagine the effort it would take for Apple or Windows to coordinate every change of their code with all companies that use their future OS in real time. I am not even taking into account security issues here. Moreover, Apple sure has enough on their plate bringing Logic as their in-house DAW up to speed.
I understand that you want it to be handled much faster. But testing takes time and as a Pro it’s your responsibility alone to wait for an official Go! before you update your OS.
What direct years-long experience do YOU have with Cupertino? I worked for Apple for three years and even I didn’t have direct access to the internal-internal dev guys.
Who do you know there? What do you have direct experience in as to how the communication is structured to the inner Apple dev departments?
If you have opinions on “how yo do it’, you imply that you understand when/what/why/how and by specific methods that Apple engages in 3rd party discussion re issues.
I’d like to avoid a detailed explanation on how to do it, since it would be a kind of offtop. Moreover, I am sure there are people at Steinberg who could do it and who are paid for it. Anyway they can reach me out to discuss it in detail. I’ve got a huge experience in working with people who didn’t want to talk to them and who seemed to be unreachable but became great partners and friends. SInce there are people working at Apple as well, the same human beings as we are, not aliens or Olympian Gods (correct me if I am wrong if you’ve been there before), there would be always some opportunities to talk to them.
P.S. those a.m. Greeks were contact-friendly to people
P.P.S. I hope I don’t have to be an Apple employee or an experienced and Apple qualified diamond partner to have the right to express my opinion here at the forum.
No need to explain how you’d do it. You either have an already-existing relationship with Apple enough to know the dev/internal protocols…and know a possible additional protocol connection… or you don’t. It appears you don’t.
Which means you don’t have a clue to to the existing protocols Steinberg uses in their communication with Apple.
Steinberg is quite competent at presenting issues/solution discussions to Apple. They don’t need the general public “stepping in” to save the day or whatever within the internal routine.
What would comparing DAW sales have to do with Steinberg’s influence on Apple? Apple brings in more than 10,000 times the revenue of Steinberg every single year, plain and simple. That has everything to do with their power and influence on things.
I must just say after asking the question and creating this thread, I took the plunge and have not had a single problem in fact I’m finding my MBP M3 Max run so much smoother.
BUMP – any updates from others who’ve taken the plunge, if any? As far as I can tell, in addition to Logic, Avid has given an official green light on Tahoe.
Sorry KT66, But Logic was not compatible when Tahoe was rolled out, it works now okay. Cubase is also working fine, but you have (just as in Logic) to invest in your pugins to the latest versions. The new news is Apple want you to force you to buy a license fee of 135,-euro a year for all the Apple pro software. The new Logic Pro version will not be available for single licence. Buy the way, Emagic (the founders of Logic) was founded from some former devellopers from Steinberg, when Apple bought Emagic they let all the PC users down by shutting down the PC version (since version 5), and shutting down the Unitor drivers for PC for years. Emagic has also shutdown, without warning, all the 16bits plugins years ago, while Steinberg did support them for years. And why is Logic still crashing, specially when you use external Synths, compressors and FX loops? 1 to 4 synths is okay, but I have 85 synths, 64 in-outputs, 18 FX units. Logic is so unstable now, also the lost of a good MIDI editor, even with 4 unitors or MOTU or iConnectivity interfaces. Strange because the Atari Emagic 1 version works fine with MIDI and the Steinberg SMP II.
Sorry dadaudio, that’s not the case. Standalone versions of the new Logic Pro 12 will be available as a one off purchase, and it looks like it will be a free update for existing licence owners. This is from the Apple press release.
This is taking a LONG time fix. It’s now more than 3 monrths later, the end of January 2026. I have Cubase 13 Pro , just downloaded the most current edition of Tahoe (26.2) and it is STILL not working properly (audio fine, graphics sputtering).
