I’m looking to do a full do over of my Windows 10 machine with a clean install of cubase as I’ve got a bug that I can’t squash somewhere in the system.
I have a profile on cubase that has lots of Macros in it.
I know that the macros are linked to the profile so they are only visible if I am in that profile but I am worried that if I save the profile, export it and then load in on a clean install I will lose the macros? Is there another file that I need to back up also or will it all come with the Key Commands.xml file - do I need to also save the key commands file?
Both. Personally, I would save the Key Commands.xml file separately out of an abundance of caution

If I were doing it I’d copy everything in the Steinberg Appdata Folder onto an external disk - just in case you need any of it later,

This is now my plan thanks.
I’ve also got to work out where all the other bits and bobs are like plugin settings, 3rd party stuff that I’ve configured settings to work with Cubase.
It’s all a bit of a nightmare to be honest but keeping a record of what I’m doing so hopefully I can get up and running again quickly.
Then the plan is to get a core base system that is perfectly clean and uncorrupted that I can image and fall back to in the future.
“Duh, yeah!”, I hear you say…
