Good job! I like the bass groove, very efficient.
Thank you.
Wow! What a lovely composition and performance. There was a lot going on, but it all fit and made good musical sense. I really liked the new synth voice that came in at about 3:50.
My one complaint/suggestion is that the sequence that came in at about 1:50 might need to be taken down a bit in the mix, or otherwise somehow sonically treated to “soften it” a little. Was that, by any chance, the Butterflies?
I didn’t mind it at first because it was interesting and a little delicate, but as it remained for much of the rest of the piece, I honestly had auditory flashbacks to an old Little Ben alarm clock waking me in the morning, and that started to distract me a bit.
I hope that doesn’t come across as harsh, because I really liked the song as well as that part. The response I just mentioned might be unique to me. I’m not at all suggesting to remove that sequence, but to simply think about altering its sonic character a little bit. If that doesn’t fit your artistic vision of the piece, that’s fine. It’s a wonderful piece of work.
John
Thank you John for listening, and no, it doesn’t come across as harsh at all, constructive criticism is a must other we would all be lying to each other lol, I will address the parts you mentioned. I have to wear hearing aids for every day use as I have profound hearing loss, but for mixing purposes I use a pair of JBL Bluetooth earbuds controlled by a app, the latency is pretty low and it has a user adjustable graphic equaliser, it sounds like I need to slightly increase the higher frequencies in the equaliser so that I am more able to hear what you are saying, but thanks for your honesty
Hi John,
I’ve now reduced the sequence part quite a lot and it has made a big difference, thanks for the advice
Mike
Really nice work. I enjoyed the bridge at 1:08. Lively and full of energy all around. Keep them coming!
Thanks for listening, glad you enjoyed it
Mike.
Hi Mike,
Sorry for being late in getting back to you on this, but I just gave it another listen, and I like what you’ve now done. It really opened up much of the rest of the track for me, and that not only got rid of something I’d found somewhat abrasive, but it also let me focus on things I’d missed before. That was particularly the case where it really came down at around 2:30.
Lovely work on this, once again.
Take care,
John
Hi John,
Thanks for your kind words of encouragement
