Main MIDI timing issue

Hi,

MIDI timing inconsistency is still an obstacle. Here’s a self-explanatory example:

  1. New Project
  2. New Layer (if no Default Layer)
  3. Load Groove Agent 6
  4. Load a Kit with basic Rock Patterns
  5. New Track assigned to the Layer
  6. Draw a container from 2.1.1 to 3.1.1
  7. Draw a 1-bar G#-1 note (trigger for GA Pattern 1) at 2.1.1 inside that container. You should hear the Pattern playing while your mouse is drawing that note)
  8. Play

The first beat won’t play, and you can hear instead the first beat of the next bar, that should be silent.

  1. Active Cycle playback between 2.1.1 and 3.1.1
  2. Set BPM to 120.004
  3. Play

Sometimes the Pattern will play, sometimes not.

At 120.000 BPM, the Pattern will play every time, except for the very first beat.

Previously, I always got troubles when using Flexloop with regular MIDI Clips. To hear some notes at the beginning of Clips, I had to move them back a few 100th. It’s much more complicated when using GA Patterns.

This is not new and I suspect an arithmetical problem when calculating delta times from BPM and ticks.

I can confirm the issue. It seems that sometimes the first (MIDI) event in a container will be ignored under certain circumstances.

It also happens, when you draw four quarter notes and let the first one begin on 2.1.2 (sticking to your example setup). In my case the first note always got omited when I stopped playback at 2.4.2 and then start again from exact that position (cycle mode). In this case I had routed the track to a piano sound in HALSonic.

thank you for pushing this one. It’s fixed now. The connection between MIDI Track to a Layer was the problem. Please re-try with the next Pre-Release 3.0.54

So I won’t have to shift the notes on the first beat by a few ticks when using Flexloop anymore :folded_hands:t3:

And I will finally be able to use VL3 as a dynamic and humanizable drum machine with the probability feature of GA6 Patterns and their controllable complexity and intensity :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
