With the overwhelming plugins out there, fixing each and every vendors licensee issues when computer components is updated or changed is a complicate and time consuming task.
Instead of putting users thought this tough times for not doing it in a particular way, I wish if DAW/VST software maker could make it very easy and very friendly way for us to update or fix this issue.
Unless a standardized policy is adapted by every vendors out there, this won’t be possible.
Since Cubase is the author in VST, I wish if you guys could create a standard for licensing, which is very easy and user friendly and which won’t tax users if they do something wrong in it.
For Steinberg products, is it necessary to put the old disk back and do the deactivation or can the support help me to deactivate the old disk from the server?
What if I had lost or damaged my old disk, in that case will I needed to purchase a new license ?
What all hardware Steinberg check for licensing, just the harddisk? I updraded mother board, processor, ram also. Since old C disk was was running out of space, I cloned it to a new one which has more space on it and to avoid re-installing everything on it, but 2nd drive is still the old one.
If I just put the old drive on the new motherboard and try deactivate, will it work?
I wish if there was way for deactivating the old hardware from the Steinberg website, so in case someone is trying use that harddisk to use Steinberg products it won’t let them since it’s already deactivated from Steinberg servers.
Google already does a similar thing when a person lost or replaced the old phone, there is an option to unauthorized the old device from Google servers via the Google accounts page.
My point was about making a standard which is easy for customers. If a customer loses a hardware or upgrades it, there should be a way to disable old license from website instead of taxing customer.
Google already does these things, this will make peoples life easier.
My Steinberg license engine not working after disk change, I want to fix it.
Can you guide me how to fix it or provide me the website were I can find how to do it?
Thanks. I got it working, i have mentioned in the VST Live thread on how i fixed it.
Some iLok plugins still have problem, but the eLicenser Control Center and VST Live is working…
