Make SX licence-free

It’s an old program and some of us like to open up old project files with it. How about making it freeware so we don’t have to mess about with licences? I’m having trouble opening SX on my W7 64-bit PC.

Steinberg surely won’t make it license free because it’s still an obtainable program. It is free however to anyone owning a license for that program and versions above. It won’t open on my Vista 64 either so I have to use it on my older XP computer. You might want to contact Steinberg with your issue.

Cubase SX used an obsolete licensing system involving a third party no longer in business and is not related to the elicensing system used until very recently and doesn’t apply to SX. The old license for SX is unobtainable even if you have newer licenses, and unless it’s already installed on a legacy system, it cannot be re-licensed for use for a new installation. I’ve tried this! Steinberg has zero interest going back in time and “fixing” this.
