Make wav standalone in session, unaffected by master fader.

Hello,

I imported an old wav into cubase that’s already been mastered. I need to extend the theme, but I don’t want the existing mastered audio to be affected by the master fader or else it will be clipping, distorted, etc.

I’m not sure how to do this in Cubase, should I be using sends and pre fader?

Thanks!

If I understand you correctly, you don’t want the Mastered track to be affected by the plugins on the master bus.
You could move all your existing plugins on the master to a group and use that group.
imported mastered wav track --------> Master Bus
All other tracks -----> Group channel (plugins) -----> Master Bus.

Or you could create a VCA track linked to all tracks other than the existing audio track and use that to control the volume of the new material. That way you wouldnt have to adjust the master fader atall.
