I am trying to program a VDL marching snare drum instrument in Dorico.I am familiar with the process, and in the first step, I am making a percussion kit, but can not find the “marching snare drums,” only "marching snare drum (1 line). Why won’t "marching snare drums come up? Image attached. Thanks.
It will not be labelled with “1-line” in the score: it’s just so you know it’s a one line stave when choosing it.
Thanks for the reply. To clarify, I am not looking to add the 1 line marching snare but am looking to add the 5 line one, it’s labeled “marching snare drums,” but it’s not coming up when I search for it in the percussion kit box.
Update: I am thinking I add “marching snare 1 line” 5 times to make a 5 line staff?
Just go to Layout Options>Players>Percussion and select 5-line Staff from the choices.
You will need to do this for all Layouts that this instrument appears (but you can select them all at once in Layout Options).

well I don’t really have a project, I am just testing it out, I think the dorico video here is going to help out with my questions:
Sorry - I just realised that I didn’t read your post correctly.
I’d say that because the Marching Snare Drums is a 5-line instrument, it won’t be available to select in a Percussion Kit (where each instrument is one one line).
