Making Cuica h/l sound audible in Note Performer & Dorico

Dear friends,

I’m sharing the “score” for a cuica with two sounds here: ‘high cuica’ and ‘low cuica’ (pic 1 & 2 ; Dorico file) . When I play the “score” in Dorico, I can’t hear the cuica – I hear other instruments instead. Why is this, and what can I do to hear the cuica? (In NP Orchestral Percussion, the cuica isn’t audible.)- Thanks!

I don’t think NP includes any Cuica. So defaults to a Conga.

… which is actually a complete different sound

The Garritan Library World contains a Cuica.

Dorico’s factory templates will substitute a ‘best guess’ (but how it makes that choice I have no idea)

Specialist percussion requires specialist sound libraries and customised playback templates.

I don’t think NP is trying to find a matching sound. Any percussion instrument not included defaults to conga.

It is Dorico doing the choosing, not NP.

Hm, I thought it was NP. Thanks @Janus
