Manual condensing results in ... decondensing?!

Starting position (2 clarinets):

Not too bad per se, but before that same rhythm is handled with a single stem.
I’m adding a Condensing Change at the beginning of the phrase (F-F) but:

  1. adding a simple Reset does nothing.
  2. adding a Manual Condensing with both clarinets in the upstem voice 1 gives this:

This doesn’t make too much sense to me…
I believe this material is compatible for single stemming…
Any idea?

Add a condensing change for Clarinet at the beginning of the third bar in that screenshot. Just tick the checkbox and don’t change anything else in that dialogue.

Any idea why that works and what I believe was logical did not?
Thanks, by the way

Because this is the point where you want the condensing configuration to change from showing both instruments with a single stem to 1st as upstem and 2nd as downstem. If you don’t add that change, Dorico will treat the entire passage as one condensing configuration until there is a rest in the music for both instruments.

Very interesting!
So, if adding a CC at the start of the phrase does nothing, look for the place where you want things to change (again) and insert CC there!
Duly noted, thank you!
