Hi,
I’m attaching my file and I made a video to describe what is going on
I have a super simple project with 3 one bar flows that I want to fit in the same page with their respective titles.
If I use the “manual staff visibility” command to get rid of a piano left hand staff, since I don’t temporarily need it, the music get moved to the previous flow…why?
Question.dorico (1.6 MB)
Also, the title of the flows get changed / mixed up (two Flow no3 for some reason?)
I hope you can help me get my head around this.
Thanks

Hi @mikeheels, it just looks as the music “moves” to the previous flow. In reality the problem is that the Flow Heading doesn’t move where you expect it, because you created a Page override (the little red triangle in the page icon in the upper right in engrave mode). Right click on that page icon and choose remove page overrides, and you will see all will fall into place
The cause that created the Page Override, is because you edited the flow titles directly into the layout. Instead you should change the flow titles text in the Project Infos Dialogue: Command(Control)+I
Now that I saw your Project Infos dialogue: you added there a bounce of tokens!! Generally you should use tokens on Page Templates in the template editing process. In the Project infos you should write normal text (which will be translated into the score thanks to the tokens that exist in the page templates).
Also I saw that in your layout options, you changed the Flow Heading top an bottom margin (top= 0, bottom=20), this is far away from the default, and especially the top margin will make the end of the preceding flow too near to the next flow title.
(I made a 6 minutes videos explaining some steps. The first part of the video refers directly to your issue. The second part are things that I found which maybe what you need or not. In this case ignore them. Anyways I feel that you may have misinterpreted some functionalities about Page and Flow heading templates, Project Infos, and general Layout options. I suggest the Discovery Dorico videos about layout that you can find on the YouTube Channel.)

Thanks a lot Christian.
I actually used and existing template from Scoring Express, and just tweaked over time.
I thought I did change the flow titles in the Project Info, and it should show in the project and video…
Anyways I will look into your suggestions tomorrow.
Thanks a lot

Ah, ok…
You will see that I added a video: maybe some of the explanations (in the second part of the video) will change some settings of the setup that maybe you want (I didn’t know that this was a purchase template). So ignore them if you like, and take what you need from it

(The templates by Notation central are very good. I would be interested to know which one you are using in you OP example. It uses basically flow info tokens where one would expect project info tokens: this has to do with the specific usage that this template is designed for, and I am curious to know which is that usage.)
I started from one of the jazz lead sheet ones, and use it exactly for that. there’s never more than one flow in a jazz lead sheet and all the information always refer to the project info. I have only changed from a handwritten music font to Bravura, and tweaked a few other minor things.
That’s also why I keep the layout name even when it would not be necessary, so that I can always show the transposition of the score (in C, in Bb etc etc)
