This is a choir and piano part from an orchestral piece. I’m trying to create an octavo, and I’d like to hide the choir staves on the first page. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be working. In Write or Engrave mode, I selected a note or rest at the point where I’d like the staves hidden, then went to Edit > Staff > Manual Staff Visibility and set the two staves to Hide. Would anyone be able to offer some insight or help?
You shouldn’t need to select a Break: Dorico should create a System Break where you have made the selection; or edit the existing Break if there is one. (Visiblity is a property of Breaks.)
The main problem in your part is the lack of something selectable in the Multi-bar rest. But if I select the time signature, and then access the Visibility menu, it should work.
But as jesele says, the easiest way is just to select the Break and press Enter.
Thank you so much for the detailed explanation! This is very helpful. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain how Dorico handles the System Break and Visibility settings. Thank you again for your help!
