Manually drag slur includes unwanted note

I’m trying to slur notes from bass to treble in piano piece. But the slur keeps trying to include a note that is slurred to notes in previous measure. I have pics of two incorrect ways. In one, slur includes only treble notes. In next pic it includes 2nd note in left hand but not the first. I want the slur to look like the one in the following measurement. In ms 55, having a note on beat one in right hand is keeping the slur from going where I need it. Thanks for any help!

Click the note for the beginning of the slur, then CTL+click the ending note - press S (for slur). You might need to adjust the curve points as it is cross-staff. Use the arrow keys instead of the mouse for finer control of the points. TAB moves to the next control point.

If you are using a Mac, that translates to cmd-click.

Thanks. I’m using windows. I do the steps you have listed but it still won’t allow me to start a slur in left hand on beat one, it moves the slur to start on the right hand note on beat one as pictured.

If I press an arrow key it moves it to another measure

I’m not sure how I figured it out and why it works, but in Engrave mode I clicked the slur in question and then clicked “Properties”. I had to scroll the properties panel over to find “Avoid collisions.” I enabled that and could the manually adjusts and fix the slur!

If you have several slurs like this one and would like a general setting, you can also untick this option:
