Mapping drum roll to a different VST

I built an expression map and percussion map for Addictive Drums, and all has been working well. That is, until I got to a drum roll. It sounds awful. Addictive Drums does not have a built in roll sample. In my Cubase projects I get around this by playing a canned roll in a different VST on a different track.

Is there a way to map ONLY the tremolo articulation on a drum staff to a different VST? I see there’s a way to map drum kit components, but i don’t want to remap the entire snare. I only want to remap a tremolo snare.

Can this be done?

You can enable independent voice playback and put the roll in a separate voice. You can then route that voice to a different VST. You may have to fiddle with hiding rests and stem direction but that’s the only method I know to accomplish what you want.

Brilliant. Worked perfectly.

Thanks.
