Mass-Adding Psalm-tone Lyrics

Hi All,

I work with psalm-tone style writing often and was wondering ig there’s a way to quickly input this into Dorico? I know Dorico will automatically assume that any hyphens or spacing between words should be assigned to another note, however this style often has multiple words, separated by a space, for one note.

I suspect there may not be, as there are not two ways to separate words via a space that I’m aware of.

On a Mac, I can use alt+shift+space.

Hi Jesper,

I’m aware of that function, however I’m talking about copy-and-pasting lyrics where they don’t split lyrics to the next note based on where the space is. Almost as if I were trying to paste the text like “All(alt+shift+space)Cows(alt+shift+space)Eat (SPACE) Grass

Ah, I see, don’t know if that’s possible. You can copy/paste selected lyrics that already have those spaces, though.

If I have a lot of text to enter, I use LibreOffice search & replace in a selection using regular expressions to replace spaces with the Unicode character U+00a0 (hard space). Turning on View->Formatting marks (in LibreOffice) allows me to see the differences between the regular space and hard space. You could put each set of words you want under one note on a separate line, do the replace then move the next line up to the end of the previous line (preserving a regular space). Most of the time I find just using shift-alt-space is faster.
