I’ve only recently discovered the Peak Master function in WL7. Prior to that, I was just using my ears. That being said, I have several masters (that have been pressed onto cd) where the Master Level in the Control Window has transient peaks (usually drums) of +6, with no audible distortion. My question is, should I continue to ignore the +6 transients, or should I make the masters “look” good?
PS: A bit of background on my equipment, I mix using a pair of Urei 809 monitors, with a Ramsa 9220 amp. Then for “critical” listening, I use a NAD 355BEEE amp, with Infinty speakers, which are on the bright side, and would easily reveal any distortion.
