In N15, with the new folder tracks submix feature, has the maximum amount of allowed group tracks in a project increased? For orchestral templates the current ceiling is easily hit when including various sub mixes, stem exports, multiple libraries with different needs, etc.
Thank you, not the answer I was hoping for. In the future, I would recommend doubling the group and FX channels limits. In my template to keep my effects isolated to my stems (36), I am out of FX channels, so groups become additional effects channels.
Is more than 256 group tracks a framework limitation? If not, why cap it? The majority of users must be working in media with huge templates and 256 groups get eaten up quickly.
If you want to have close/mid/far control over every library + short/long articulations + percussion in multiple groups and (as I do) create game sfx in the template where each effect needs it’s own group for processing, it quickly runs out.
It seems to be a lot, but if you run big orchestra-based productions, for example, with lots of overdubs a.k.a. “stripes” and about hundred mics for each pass that want to be bussed properly, you might run out of Groups in Nuendo. Here’s a screenshot from a ProTools-session I’m mixing right now - and that’s the raw recording without any fancy mixing stuff implemented yet:
