I come across this problem frequently and wonder if there’s a way other than engrave mode adjustments to fix it. The avoid collisions box is checked in the measure number section of layout options.
What are the properties of the paragraph style you’re using for that text?

Hi @DennisMusic, you can create a duplicate paragraph style that has a greater Distance from staff value, and assign it to your text (right clicking after selecting the text):
Alternatively you could deactivate Avoid collisions and decrease the Minimum distance from staff in Layout Options>Bar Numbers for the desired layout/s (depending on your needs and on possible other undesired consequences doing this):
