Measure numbers are too far after avoiding collisions

Good afternoon.

I am writing a orchestral score, and this is what happens after I selected “Avoid collisions” for the measure numbers in Layout options (CTRL + SHIFT + L).

What I really want is that expression slur over the number, keeping the measure numbers in the position drawn in red. I tried selecting “Avoid collisions” for all slurs in the CTRL + 8 menu, but it didn’t work.

I attach a screenshot:

Thank you.

If you untick Avoid Collision for Bar Numbers.

Hello and thank you for your fast answer, jesele.

I tried that before, but this is the result I get. I was wondering if there would be an authomatic way to avoid the slur crossing through number 4 because Dorico always find a very accurate way to do it for all cases in my score.

I know I could edit them manually using the CTRL + 3 menu, since there are only a few expression slurs in this case and it is a very specific situation, but, would it be possible with any other feature?

Thank you.

What if you move the bar numbers closer to the staff?

Jesper

That was a great idea. It solved the first problem.

Why do they look unalligned vertically? Number 3 seems lower than number 4. Or, at least, it seems to me.

Thank you so much.

I’m not sure it is. You can check in Engrave mode with the Grid turned on.

They have the exact same distance from staff. Here I copied the same rectangle to show the distance (from your screenshot):

It’s a visual illusion. I scrolled down to use the bottom edge of the monitor as reference line

Clever, @Vadian

Here a nice link (sorry, somehow OT but also pertinent  ):

Our human senses can sometimes be deceiving, definitely! Ha ha ha ha.

Thank you everyone for your replies. Have a nice day.
