Measures don't fill up page completely

Hello,

In the image attached, the last system does not fill out the page. I know there is an option to fix this in layout options, but I can’t do that because it will mess something else up I have in this project. Any way to fix this? Thanks.

I would not call this a fix, it is the option you choose, the percentage from which you want the last system in your specific layout to be justified:

You can also manually shift a final bar line in Engrave Mode, Horizontal Spacing.
You will need the Alt key along the arrow keys to do the edit.

Or a system break and a Note spacing change.

If you’re going to do that, at least balance the number of bars a bit more evenly…!

As far as I can see, Michael likes to have the rehearsal marks [26]…[27]… at the start of the systems.
And it is all 4-bar sequences;
bar number count 1…4, 1…4

Then the Casting Off settings in Layout Options would be helpful.

Setting the final system in Layout Options is the better option than the manual intervention. It will apply to other flows, for example.

Oh, sorry - I didn’t see that. I’m curious what could be messed up by this option, except for manual adjustments that can be easily reset.

Instead of having system breaks, rehearsal marks, bar number changes to reset to “1” every system, you could use a separate flow for each of these exercises. That is one of the intended uses of flows!

Hello,

Yes, I did the rehearsal marks this way because it’s a method book and this is a rhythm exercises section, so there’s probably going to be like 80-100 exercises with many instruments so I didn’t want to manually type in the exercise numbers so I edited the rehearsal marks this way.

Hello!

Thanks for the info. Yes, this is a method book and I am in fact using flows for every single exercise, except for this section it’s a rhythm exercises section, so there’s going to be a lot of exercises with many instruments, so I edited the rehearsal marks like this so I can add the exercise numbers quickly for each one.

Every exercise is 4 measures so that’s why they are on a system break like that, so the layout looks organized.

In regard to stretching out the bottom system to fit the page, I did figure out to use option and the right arrow in engrave mode for note spacing and that worked.

As the person who recommended this (Option-Arrow), I would still suggest you try the method Jesper suggested: doing a Note Spacing Change in the following way:

In your case, go back to Engrave Mode, select the red square :red_square: of the final bar-line, hit delete (this will put the barline back to its original place). Then select the first note of that exercise [27] and via the menu do a “Note Spacing Change”. If you, in the following dialogue, set the Note Spacing let us say from “4” to “6”, the final barline will pop to the right end of your music frame.
