Media Bay in C14 is really buggy!

So, I’ve been using C14 since it came out. There are two pretty big issues that should be addressed:

  1. I have noticed an intermittent bug wherein if you arrow up/down from a selected result in the results column, the entire window gets incrementally smaller! This is as distracting as it is annoying. Anyone else notice this?

Btw: even more interesting is the fact that, in order to diagnose yet ANOTHER bug in Media Bay C14, I opened up C13 (to see if this same issue (which I will bring up next) existed there too (Spoiler: it didn’t)), and upon leaving C13 and then going back to C14, the window narrowing issue seems to have miraculously disappeared! It just happened, so I have no way of telling you how durable is this change.

So: there’s some really wacky things going on with screen redraw, as it applies to MB. Steinberg: please look into this.

  1. This bug is IMO quite a bit more important: the Link to Project Tempo function is not working as it should! This is a really big deal: it works with some media and some media it does not work at all. And, as said before: it works perfectly as it should in C13.

So, in their rush to add a bunch of new features into MB (features which I will admittedly say are cool, at least on paper) the addition of these new functions, apparently, have broken older and yet no less essential functions.

So, again Steinberg, fix this. Please.

Ok, so out of frustration I continued trying to figure out what is the rhyme or reason to all of this issue with some audio files in MB not syncing to tempo.

And, in fact, there IS one: the Link to Project Tempo function will not work on audio files whose Character has been tagged as One Shot. Tagging it a Loop (or, assumedly, leaving that particular category unchanged) will allow MB to sync the audio file with the Project Tempo.

Don’t know if this was intentional on the part of Steinberg or not: if it was, then I will say that this is not the way it should be AT ALL. A user should still be able to listen to an audio file, tagged as a One Shot, synced to Project Tempo, as he or she sees fit.

So, I’m very thankful that I found the “solution” to such a big issue as that. The far more desirable solution is for Steinberg to leave it as it was in C13: ALL files could be synced to Project Tempo regardless of whether they were tagged as One Shots, Loops or not tagged at all.

Again: please, please fix this.

Thank you.

You should add an issue tag to your thread’s title so they even see it.

Thank you-I was looking for that tag, but I wasn’t able to locate it. Are you saying you just need to type in the word “issue”? Will that do it?

No, there should be a pencil next to the Title that lets you edit the title & tags. The tags are per-determined & can be selected from menus.

Found it-thanks again. Happy New Year!
