Why are some of my media bay sounds so much quieter than others? For instance, if I audition for an oboe sound, ‘oboe’ is a lot louder than, say ‘Oboe 1 Legato’ which can barely be heard.
It depends on the method each one uses to control dynamics. For instance, a Staccato sound could use velocity, and a legato might use modulation (CC1)

Thanks, Steve. You are correct! I was using inonica sketch sounds in Halion 6. Having searched online, sounds are better to be accessed via halion sonic. Some of the sounds ( legato for instance) are not key velocity sensitive and the volume has to be regulated by the modulation wheel on my keyboard, as you suggested.
