A couple of days ago I was trying to go deeper inside MediaBay window to understand it better and searching for pattern banks I got this window with double (ghost?) results…
Tell me I have not to reinstall everything, please… ![]()
Thanks,
Art
The good news is you don’t need to reinstall everything.
You can try closing Cubase, then open Steinberg Library Manager and let it see if anything is wrong and needs to update.
Hi @Michael_Ill ,
it looks like everything it’s ok; going trough the different panels I don’t get any particular error message (or should I expand every single library to check it, using the details tab?)
Is it normal anything is shown in the default library location box?
Thank you,
Art
If something is wrong here, you’ll see a message or a small red indicator in the top right.
In mediabay, those files you showed in your post are marked as missing, and are from Cubase own files, so maybe try this:
expand that Factory Content directory then click the check box to remove those files from the Mediabay. Once that is done check it again to re-add those files.
Maybe I did it bad as I choose to eliminate from database and now I can’t get the pattern banks voice no more… ![]()
I don’t know what you did, but I don’t think they are “eliminated”. Please try to describe what the problem is now.
Also, in case you didnt, reboot might also help…
What do you mean by “double”? In you first pic I don’t see anything listed twice.
In the Result list, the last 4 entries shown appears the same as the first 4. The names are preceded with different icons and I don’t know what those mean.
It’s license thing.

Ahh, good eye.
Hi @raino , as you have seen yet @mlib answered.
They weren’t, actually. I went in the library subfolder for Mediabay and renamed the mediabay.db (I go by memory) so to make it invisible the I restarted Cubase and a new disk scan started automatically; at the end I had no more “minus sign” and no double entries as well.
Now I checked once more and minus icons and “double entries” are there again but I don’t get “red error” messages and everything works ok so I don’t worry too much…
Thank you guys for helping, as usual!

In the Library Manager do you see 2 entries for those there? And if so are their paths the same or different.
Hi @Raino,
sorry for my delay…
At the moment this is the situations in the MediaBay (see attachments):
in the “Preset Banks” folder I only see ‘right’ files and names
in the “Factory Content” folder I see ‘doubles’ files and names
in both cases I can’t see a location (or locate in finder entry);
In the Library Manager the only real ‘double’ voice I’ve found so far is in “Jazz Essentials” library; in other libraries I sometimes have various locations but with different file names…
