In the metadata tab for CART, why is there a start date and end date? Just curious what they’re referring to. Birth and death of the artist? I see the fields cannot be blanked out, so maybe this feature is only for dead artists? 
This (old) standard is just so.
Cart is specified for broadcast use, also for automated broadcast systems. AFAIK, the Start and End dates (and times) are for usage period or rotation dates - especially useful for news reels, promos and commercials. Found this really old website about its beginnings: http://www.cartchunk.org/
