Meter change anomaly

I originally have a measure of 6/4 followed by four measures of 3/4 before another meter change. I wanted to split the 6/4 measure, so I put a 3/4 time signature in instead of 6/4 and it properly splits it by putting a bar line in the middle. However, the 3/4 still appears in the next measure. How do I get rid of it?

I tried changing the 3/4 to 4/4 for just a moment and then back to 3/4, but the redundant 3/4 remains.

Try:
Select the time signature which you want to remove and press Delete.
(Occasionally, with some things, Delete does not work - try Edit > Cut instead)

Excellent. Delete works just fine. Never occurred to me.

Thanks very much.

(In the kindest spirit) why did it not occur to you to delete the (now redundant) time signature?

In the kindest spirit in return, because I’m new to Dorico, not feeling very well at present, 82 years old and starting to wear out, and sometimes obvious things slip by me. I delete notes and measures and slurs and articulations and whole bars and everything else in the world, but so far I’ve always just replaced time signatures, not deleted them. I think.

Never mind me. I’m just the voice of one crying out in the wilderness.
