Meter v Actual Wav Dispay disconnect - Cubase 14 Pro

Hi Users,

Need some help here. Just got Cubase 14 as an Upgrade from 10.5 as the new Score editor tying to Dorico is amazing. However, I am now getting a disconnect when recording audio.

When doing my levelling I was working with a cello part on a new stereo mic coming through an RME Interface on Total mix. The maximum levels for the entire recording over several parts was -15.1 as you can see below. Most of it sat in the low -20s

So, as mentioned I had set all that up before hitting record. Then when I hit record the displays shows as if it is absolutely so hot it would blow my speakers. So, I adjusted it so it displayed correctly in the recorded window but then you could barely hear the audio. I went back to metering it correctly and just left whatever the display on the screen was. This is shown below.

I have looked online and been looking through the forum but I can’t find any setting that helps me with this. To mind, it just looks like the display is zoomed right in or something of the like, but I can’t find how to change this and it makes it really hard to edit.
When I bounce from Midi to Audio I am not getting the same issue, the window displays match the metering so to speak. But, looking at the above window I would expect that file to be booming, distorted and clipped, yet it isn’t. it is levelled perfectly.

I am sure there is something I am missing here. Can anyone help?

Thanks in adavance

Hi,

you’ll find a slider at the right side of your project window to vertically zoom in/out on your waveform display.

Ahhhhhh - I couldn’t find where they I found articles talking about that slider. I kept looking at the end of the audio file. Thanks soooo much. I gather it being right at the bottom is essentially the file at ‘normal’ level as in it matches the meter level?

I knew it would be something simple - was driving me bonkers. Don’t know how it got pushed up. I’ve never used that slider before, nor even noticed it. Only been using cubase since 2005 or so.
