A lot of processing that eventually end up chancing the peak level of a track have no “gain reduction”. EQ or Saturation come to mind. I think that Pre-Fader Metering would just fix all those issues at once. Also, like I mentioned in another post I do not like the fact that when a track is muted, the metering is turned off, Pre-Fader metering would fix that. I also don’t like the fact that if I have to put a sound in the background , like a synth pad or something, and turn down it’s fader quite a lot, I’m just left with some anemic level reading on the metering which is of no use at all. So yeah, I think Pre-Fader Post-Insert metering is still the way to go. Case in point, the only reason why I noticed this wasn’t available in Cubase is because I used to have that in ProTools, and when I switched back to Cubase, I missed it tremendously.
