Midi conversion

Good afternoon: I made a score in Sibelius, converted it to MIDI, and then opened it in Cubase 14. When I open the score editor, the MIDI conversion does not work. Is this normal? Midi files are not converted well in the Cubase 14 sheet music editor? Kind regards

Can you show a screenshot to show the problem you are having? Are you also able to attach the project here? (or a cut-down one that shows the problem)

Good afternoon:
I serd you two files, cubase and sibelius. In the conversion of the cubase 14 score editor, the key signature does nor appear correctly, nor the accents, ligatures or staccatos.
Kind regards

The attachments aren’t appearing. Can you try to attach them again?

The problem here is that MIDI doesn’t transfer slurs, staccato or accents. It’s just a stream of notes with different velocities, times and durations. The MIDI file doesn’t have any representation for those things.

So in Cubase, the MIDI import has to make some assumptions to work out if legato or staccato was intended. There are some thresholds that the logic uses to work out if legato or staccato was intentional. Those values may not work in all circumstances.

If you import the MIDI file back into Sibelius then you will probably see similar results.

MIDI key signatures aren’t imported in the current release, but this should be fixed for the next update.
