MIDI delay effect not timed to track after bounce

Hi everyone!
I hope this is the right place for this. I wrote an all-MIDI track in Cubase 7 for which i used HaLion SE and some 8bit VSTs. Very prominent in the Song is the HaLion program “Chasing Waves” which has a delay-effect that is automatically timed to the track when I play it back in Cubase. But after Mixdown, the delay seems to be out of sync. I have tried so many things to fix this and it changed nothing.

Sometimes the error even occurs in Cubase. Then, when I save and reload the same project, it’s gone. Does anybody have any ideas what is happening and how to fix this?
Any help would be very much appreciated!
Thanks.

In Halion 5 there was a bug that caused delay sync to vary on export. With the upgrade to 5.1 that was solved. It’s possible that HalionSE had that same problem before the upgrade to Cubase8.

The way I dealt with that was to add automation to the delay time to force it to conform when exporting. I had a look at the “Chasing Waves” patch. It doesn’t seem like you have that option, because it’s a Halion Sonic SE patch with limited access to settings.

I would recommend you do an export/import of just that single channel and then your mixdown.

Alternatively record it in real time as a wave to an audio channel. The recording will probably work best, because you’re eliminating the chance of the export process messing with the delay settings.

As far as the same error occurring in Cubase, I’ve never had that. You should check in the Cubase forum if someone had a similar experience.

Thanks AposMus! I recorded the Midi Channels to an Audio channel and it worked out fine.

Glad it worked out.
