Is there any plan to support auto connection of MIDI devices that show up after Dorico has already been running?
I understand that you can always restart the program to get it to recognize a new device. But most/all other programs can deal with this automatically (at least on macOS).
This is especially useful with bluetooth midi devices as they get turned on and off more frequently than something like a USB MIDI device. Although this would be useful for USB devices as well.
Yes, hopefully this is something we can add in future. Until recently this was not possible in Cubase on either Windows or Mac (I forget which) but it’s now possible on both platforms. I’m not sure when we will get to this, though, as I believe it will require changes both to the underlying engine and to Dorico to listen out for notifications from the engine about changes in the connected devices.
Has this feature been added to a version of Cubase since this post?
I am asking because I am continually frustrated by my wired USB and MIDI cable external instruments being forgotten and all the patches need to be reselected to return the track to where it was before.
