Hi Guys,
I’m having an issue with external instruments midi and cubase 13. Cubase will randomly drop notes as the track plays. For example I have an EMU or Akai sampler playing drum breaks and Cubase will drop notes randomly after a short while.
I have tried 2 midi interfaces and changed midi cables but no joy. I fired studio one up to see if it has become an issue but it works fine in there. No drops.
Thanks for your time and hope anyone knows what the issue could be.
Try to use MIDI Monitor to verify if the Notes are sent out correctly (and the issue is on the hardware side) or if Cubase doesn’t send the MIDI data out.
I just tried using single hits for drums and cubase is playing the pattern fine. It seems when I have longer notes playing break loops in the sampler Cubase randomly loses one now and then like in the first vid. This affects 2 EMU and 3 Akai samplers of different ages. MPC1000 being one.
I next tried an MS-20 synth and that plays fine without dropouts. So I guess the old samplers are not playing well with cubase 13. I will go back to Studio One for hardware use for now.
Just coming to add here that Cubase 15 seems to have solved the issue. I have no idea what was fixed/edited in the update as I have asked (Forum) but no one has replied. But just incase anyone does run into this issue, know that Cubase 15 Pro on Windows 11 25H2 is working.
EDIT: I’ve deleted a few posts as to not send people down the wrong rabbit hole if they look at this with the same issue.
Had a new audio PC built over Christmas as my previous one with Cubase on it had a processor (AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core 3.70 GHz) go bad after around 5 years of use.
I decided today to run a test with those samplers on my new PC and I’m not getting the skips etc. I believe now this was the cause of the issues (this and others) I was having and not Windows or Cubase’s fault.
