Midi dump from Korg workstation to cubase 7

Hi All

I have a Korg M1 and Korg n364 music workstation. Can anyone advise me on how to midi up sequenced tracks from these workstations to cubase 7 so that they appear on separate midi tracks. Any advice or websites I could be directed to would be very helpful.

Many thanks

Martin.

<Hi

I’m as well a proud owner of a Korg M1 and I do it as follows:

  1. Instrument track
Add an Instrument track in cubase and play the Keyboard of the M1 to record the midi notes.
(Is probably not that, what you’re asking for  )

  2. Use the M1 COMBINATION
    Go to COMB Edit mode.
Place your voices as you like - upto 8 sounds are possible.
Selctect the midi channel per voice (e.g. from 1-8).
Go to cubase and add 8 midi tracks.
Select on each cubase midi track the channel (1 to 8)

Now the crucial Point is, that the Korg M1 has only 4 audio outputs.
Therefore, if you like to record the audio tracks of your 8 voices made in the Korg M1 COMB,
you have to select:

  • first 1-4 as A,B,C,D
  • and afterwards 5-8 as A,B,C,D.
  1. Import of the sequenced songs
Add a midi track in cubase.
Select the midi channel to ANY
Press record. Play the sequencer in Cubase.
    OR
(That was your question, I think :stuck_out_tongue: )

I admitt, some sounds in the Korg M1 are still worth to do this add works - no softsyth can offer it for that money.

Hope it helps or gives you at least the power to have your own ideas, where to start on.

Cheers
