MIDI Export - Suddenly Includes Notes That Don't Exist

This simply never was a problem in Finale. Make it make sense to me.

Is there an easy, and understandable way, to suppress non-existent notes when exporting to MIDI?

I haven’t had this problem with Dorico - until today.

What “non-existent” notes are being exported? Can you give us an example?

Someone posted the same or similar symptom that I’m experiencing. Although I see a possible suggested solution I just don’t understand how to implement the solution. It’s gibberish to me.

Here’s what I found:

I’m working on a huge orchestral score in Dorico, and decided to export a MIDI file so I could play with it in Digital Performer. If your problem is keyswitches (that are used by expression maps) being exported, apply the HALion Sonic Selection playback template before doing the export.

To find it you will need to hit the Show All Factory button.

Those are key switches caused by the Expression Map.

Upload the project and you will quickly get a solution.

Okay, I’ve attached portion of the project. I have exported MIDI from the attached project and still get those low notes C0 and Eb0. I’ve triple checked that I am using HALion Sonic Selection. I’ve even tried closing & re-opening Dorico - thinking, maybe, the change only takes place after a re-boot. Nothing I’ve tried has removed the unwanted, non-existent, notes. I hope this can get fixed - as I regularly export MIDI and send to other folks.

The screen capture shows what I see when navigating to Play > Play > Playback Template . . .

OK, it appears the HSSE template does use an expression map for the Guitar.
Just change that to Default and no key switches will be exported.
