HI All, I have been recording songs into my Elec Piano (as Data/ Midi files) and now want to work on them in cubase AI. However I am having issued with the tempo when importing. I was not aware that when recording into my piano that the tracks would also have the piano default tempo inbedded into the song (I didnt use the metromone when I recorded the tracks). Therefore, the tempo is unrelated to the beat of the song. When importing is there a way to remove the tempo assigned to the track or be able to adjust the cubase tempo independantly without effecting the MIDI track speed so I can get align tempo by ear to track so I can them work on them.
Hi,
Import the MIDI File. Then go for the Tempo Detection from one of the MIDI Part. Cubase will sync the Tempo map with your free playing. Then you can change the Tempo and all MIDI data will follow.
Thank you
Unfortunately It appears tempo detection is only available in cubase pro. Looking for a work around,
Cheers
Furthermore, I tried the tap tempo option in cubase AI, (tapping to the beat) however actioning this option just slow or speeds up the song to the tap.
Hi,
Switch all the tracks from the Musical Timebase to the Linear Timebase. Change the tempo to the one, you played. This will not affect the MIDI data. Then switch the tracks back to the Musical Timebase. Now, you can change the tempo and it will affect the MIDI data.
Hi Mark,
thanks again for your advise
However, I dont think this option is available in Cubase AI as there seems to be no option on individual tracks to adjust time.
I believe you can only change the time type on the transport bar in AI to; Bars and Beats/ Seconds/ Timecode/ Samples. In all these modes the MIDI track speed seems fixed to any adjustment to tempo
cheers
Hi,
Oh, you are right, the timebase toggle is not available in Cubase AI. I’m sorry, I’m not good at the feature diffs.
