Midi from Audio in Cubase 6?

Hi Guys - Is it possible to derive a midi part from an audio part?

In other words, I have recorded a bass guitar line and I wish to mix it together with an exactly matching synthesised bass line.

Can I use the bass guitar audio track and turn it into a midi track to trigger the synthesised bass?

I would very much like to know if it is possible.

Thanks for any help.

Yes, you can use Variaudio for that. Double click the recorded track, use the Pitch Correction function to show played notes and then there should be a function to export as MIDI - or create a MIDI track from it, more likely. I’ve never used this, but it should be there!
