MIDI Import not working on Cubase Artist 14

Latest news. A couple of days ago I started a new project in Cubase Artist 13 and imported that same midi file into it. That worked just fine and I got the wave file out to the client. I tried later to use the offending Cubase Artist 14 file in Cubase Artist 13 and import another cue into that. But it failed as the other one did before, even in Cubase Artist 13. It seems that the problem lies in that Cubase Artist 14 project file which will play notes input by the drawing tool but not notes imported from MIDI. Also, Dorico 5 adds that extra articulation note down in C0 range and I have to delete all of those manually. So that is taking a lot of time too. Never Upgrade Working Software.

When I copied these tracks to instrument tracks in Cubase, using Halion Sonic 7 voices, most of them don’t play a sound.

I get all the dispayed notes also to sound. I admit I have to mute the key switches notes in order to be able to hear the rest but then it is all there.

So the issue might be specific to your current installation and not a general issue.
Try to create a brand new profile please and start Cubase again. Here is an instruction:

Retrospective Record problem

There is really not much of a setting in Cubase regarding this. The thing is, retro-recording works well for others like myself and from our point of view it is hard to figure out why it doesn’t work well for you, too. For testing purposes you can try to go to Edit → Profile Manager… and create a NEW profile there. Then please activate it and restart Cubase. Play around with RR if it works then. If the problem still persists you can switch back to your previous profile at any time.
