MIDI input channel not respected

It seems that no matter what channel my controller is using, and what channel my MIDI track is set to receive on, anything I play on the controller is received and recorded/played on that MIDI track.

I am using an Arturia MiniLab, which transmits keyboard events on channel 1 and pad triggers on channel 10.
I have Cubase Pro 9 on Macbook Pro running Mojave.

MIDI track in Cubase is set to channel 1. Receives keyboard and pad events.
Expected: keyboard only

MIDI track in Cubase is set to channel 2. Receives keyboard and pad events.
Expected: neither

MIDI track in Cubase is set to channel 10. Receives keyboard and pad events.
Expected: pads only

Is there some global setting I am unable to find that could fix this?

Hi,

In Cubase, you don’t send the receive MIDI Channel but the transmit MIDI Channel. All tracks are always receiving MIDI data on all MIDI Channels. If you want to filter some MIDI Channel, use Input Transformer:

Filter Target
Channel | Unequal | your wanted channel

Action Target
-Empty-

Function: Filter

This will filter out all unwanted MIDI Channel on the track.

Don’t forget to switch the Module On.
