Midi input routing not saving

I am using cubase 13 Pro on a Windows 11 desktop. Have an instrument track with pianoteq on it. Midi input is set to “all midi inputs.” I change it to “Yamaha motive XF 8–1” as usual. But when I save and close the project, and then open it again, the midi input setting for that track has reverted back to “all midi inputs.” Does anyone know why? Is there a preference or something?
Advice much appreciated.

Not at Cubase so the jargon may be a bit off. But can you post a screenshot showing your MIDI port settings under Studio.

The only thing I can think of is when do you turn the keyboard on in relation to loading the Project?

A keyboard won’t appear in the list until a few seconds after it is turned on. If a MIDI Input isn’t yet available when Project loads I think it will revert to the default.

After the Motif is powered on, booted up, and connected to Windows 11, it can take around 6 seconds before the MIDI 1 ports are enumerated. I recommend doing all that before you open your Cubase project.
