MIDI Input Stops Working

I’ve started using a second external monitor via Mini DisplayPort.

And now, quite often when the computer is put to sleep or the screensaver has been on, upon opening my Dorico window there is no MIDI activity.

I’m assuming if my MIDI keyboard is not greyed out in the Audio MIDI Setup that the keyboard is still successfully connected to the Mac?

Switching the monitor off and on normally restores MIDI activity.

Hi @DanielMuzMurray ,
could you please confirm something?
In the right bottom corner of the Dorico project window is a little green dot that shortly lights up whenever Dorico receives a MIDI event. Is that indicating correctly at any given time?

Hi @Ulf,

No - when I experience this issue, the green dot stops lighting up.

Can you remember roughly the time this happened the last time to you?
Or if not, the next time it happens and it recovers, create another diagnostic report, please. Thanks

I can’t remember but that diagnostics report was created soon after it happened.

I will do it again and report back.

Edit:

@Ulf, do you want the diagnostics created before I fix the problem, or after?

You can create 2 diagnostic reports please, one before and one after fixing.
Thanks so much

In passing, I highly recommend the app MIDI Monitor for the Mac, which lists and logs all incoming MIDI messages. It’s very useful for seeing whether MIDI signals are being recognised by the OS, for starters; and you can also identify if they are coming in on the right channel, or whatever.
