MIDI INPUT: Using piano as midi input in Dorico

Dorico 6 and midi input.

I have a Roland digital piano.
I have connected this piano to my PC with QUAD-CAPTURE.
When I play something on the piano, lights on the QUAD-CAPTURE are on)

  1. In Dorico I go to PREFERENCES.

PLAY
MIDI Input Devices.
QUAD-CAPTURE and UM-ONE are checked here.

  1. Then to DEVICE SETUP.
At ASIO Driver it says: QUAD-CAPTURE
    Stereo Output: 1-2. 1-2(2)
    Sample rate: 44100

Then checked if there was contact with the piano.
A light should be on at the bottom right.

Am I forgetting something? Am I doing something wrong? Can someone help me to use my piano as a midi instrument in Dorico?

Thanks in advance.

Ok, I take it that you connect the piano via the traditional MIDI connectors to the interface, right?

In this case, you could check if the piano sends its data via the correct MIDI channel. On my FP-80, this is in the functions menu (accessed by pushing the song and rhythm buttons simultaneously) under the entry MIDI Transmit Channel.

If you should decide to connect the piano directly to the computer via USB and you’re running Windows 11, you may find that the Roland Digital Piano Driver isn’t quite up-to-date with recent OS developments, getting into conflict with W11 security measures. In this case, there is also an entry in my FP-80’s menu that let’s me switch the USB Driver from Original to Generic, with the latter working flawlessly for MIDI input.
