On Cubase 15. Count-in is disabled. Track delay is at 0.00ms. But every time I click record the recording doesn’t start for about 4 seconds. Or at least, the bar does not start moving until then. If I play any keys during this time, it places the notes before 1. 1. 1. 0 for the duration of recording, and then once I stop the recording suddenly all the notes get piled over each other starting at 1. 1. 1. 0. It also can’t receive pedal input during this time. What is going on? The instrument I’m using is Soundpaint’s 1928 Steinway if that matters, and otherwise this is a completely brand new, plugin-less install. I’ve touched almost nothing. Having to wait four seconds before recording is super annoying and I never had this on a weaker machine that I had Cubase 13 installed on.
Okay, I have to ask: How does a Steinway from 1928 send midi? ![]()
What is your input device (and midi interface if you have one)? Which OS are you on?
Hey, the steinway is a great free piano inside Soundpaint lol. I used it all the time on my old machine.
Currently I’m using an Alesis VX49 keyboard since I am having to order a power supply for my komplete kontrol s88 mk2. The Alesis is just plugged straight into the computer. I’m also using a scarlet 2i2 if that matters. Windows 11. Previously I was on windows 10 on the old machine. I had mostly used the kks88 mk2 at the time, but I know I also used the Alesis so I don’t think that’s it.
Everything should be the same set up I had before, but just on this new windows 11 machine I built this summer.
EDIT: okay so now I have reinstalled Cubase because I realized it was on the wrong drive and some instruments didn’t like that. Now, when I start to record, it does a COUNT-IN. As in it’s audible this time whereas it wasn’t before (???). And I know it’s a count in, because if I go into the metronome set up, I can change the number of Bars in Count-in to 1, and that shortens it. But I can’t turn it off.
EDIT2: okay, so the way to turn it off was to mouse over the three dots by the metronome, and count in is a separate icon, hidden for no reason. Also, the dragging does not work normally. I had to go into Transport and select transport panel, where the metronome shows up separately, and for some reason THAT one I can drag to the side to reveal the count in option. I still have no idea why on my first install there was no actual sound for the count in. I never even touched the metronome.
